四月八日，留知事上堂云：「獨掌不浪鳴，獨樹不成林，大家出隻手，折脚鐺子頗堪任。」復云：「昔日毘藍園裏，今朝古佛廟前，裂轉雲門關捩，且浴無垢金仙，杓兒纔把處，蹉過祖師禪。」

On the eighth day of the fourth month, at the ascending of the hall to retain the monastic officers, he said, "A single palm does not clap in vain; a single tree does not make a forest. Let everyone lend a hand, and the broken-legged caldron can well bear its duty." He added, "Formerly in the Lumbinī Grove, / Today before the ancient Buddha's shrine. / Turning around the turning-mechanism of Yunmen, / We bathe the immaculate Golden Immortal. / The moment the ladle is taken in hand, / One misses the Patriarchal Chan."
