[The Master] cited: "Lingyun saw peach blossoms and was awakened to the Way, uttering a verse: 'For thirty years I sought a sword-bearing guest; / How many times did leaves fall and branches sprout anew? / Ever since I once saw the peach blossoms, / Direct up to now I have doubted no more.' Xuansha said, 'Exceedingly right, very right indeed! Yet I dare guarantee the venerable elder is not yet thoroughgoing.'"
The Master said, "A crossbow of a thousand jun does not trigger its mechanism for a tiny mouse. Lingyun having stirred the heavenly portal, Xuansha thereupon overturned the terrestrial pivot. Tell me: which is the place that is not yet thoroughgoing? Let those with the eye to penetrate the barrier try to distinguish it!"
