He cited: "In the assembly on Vulture Peak, there was a woman who entered samādhi before the Buddha. The Buddha commanded Mañjuśrī to bring her out of it. Mañjuśrī circumambulated the woman three times and snapped his fingers once, but the woman remained solemn in samādhi. Mañjuśrī then used his supernatural powers to carry her up to the Brahmā heaven and hurled her down, yet the woman remained solemn in samādhi as before. The Buddha said, 'Not only can you alone not bring this woman out of samādhi, even if there were hundreds of thousands of myriads of koṭis of Mañjuśrīs, they could not bring her out of it either. In the realm below there is the Bodhisattva Net-Light (Jālinīprabha), who can bring her out of this samādhi.' Before the Buddha finished speaking, Net-Light welled up from the earth. The Buddha commanded him to bring her out of samādhi. Net-Light circumambulated the woman three times and snapped his fingers once, whereupon the woman came out of samādhi. An elder master queried: 'Mañjuśrī is the teacher of the seven buddhas; why was he unable to bring the woman out of samādhi, whereas Net-Light was able to do so?'"
