On the first day of the fifth month, [the master] ascended the hall and said, "The iron tree spreads wide; the stone ox bellows. Fiery clouds stretch across the sky for ten thousand fathoms; the golden crow universally shines with great radiance. It makes the carp in the Eastern Sea shake its fins and raise its scales, and the Persian in the Southern Kingdom display his oars and dance with his paddles. Mañjuśrī and Samantabhadra dare not speak of principle or matter; Deshan and Linji dare not wield the staff or the shout. Right at such a moment, do you understand? The staff intends to swallow the Buddhas of the three periods; the lantern, in a hundred resolutions, pours forth bright pearls." He further said, "Old Śākya said, 'If there is one person who brings forth truth and returns to the source, empty space in the ten directions all completely disintegrates.' Master Wuzu also said, 'When one person brings forth truth and returns to the source, empty space in the ten directions bumps and knocks against it.' This mountain monk is not like that: If there is one person who brings forth truth and returns to the source, it is like adding flowers onto brocade throughout empty space in the ten directions."
