At a winter night informal gathering: "Conditioned thinking arises from the mind of existence, a single wheel of arising and ceasing; practicing the unimpeded path and cultivating undefiled activity, one is transcendent for ten thousand kalpas. Picking up one and putting down one, half opening and half closing, one inevitably remains within a nest. Little do they know that coming and going are without intermission, movement and stillness are as one; melting the great chiliocosm of sand-worlds into a single dust mote, gathering the ten time-periods of past and present into a single thought—where can going and coming, arising and ceasing, be arranged? How can spring, summer, autumn, and winter be debated? Arriving here, stark naked and clean-stripped, with nothing to grasp, not discerning east from west, nor distinguishing south from north—that is indeed so. If you do not yet know the point of rest, those who have long practiced with former virtues have their feet planted on solid ground; tell me, just at such a time, how is it? Do you understand yet? All the yin has been completely worn away; tomorrow clouds will be recorded."
