南泉見鄧隱峯來，指淨瓶云：「淨瓶是境，爾不得動著境，與我將水來。」峯將淨瓶傾水於南泉面前，泉便休。歸宗云：「鄧隱峯也是亂瀉。」頌云：

When Nanquan saw Deng Yinfeng coming, he pointed to a water pitcher and said, "The water pitcher is an object; you must not move this object. Bring me water!" Feng took the water pitcher and poured water right before Nanquan. Nanquan let the matter rest. Guizong said, "Deng Yinfeng also just poured it out wildly." The verse says:
