臨濟遷化時示眾云：「吾滅後不得滅却吾正法眼藏。」三聖出云：「爭敢滅却和尚正法眼藏？」濟云：「已後有人問爾，向他道甚麼？」三聖便喝，濟云：「誰知吾正法眼藏向遮瞎驢邊滅却。」頌云：
When Linji was about to pass away, he instructed the assembly, saying, "After my decease, you must not extinguish my treasury of the true dharma eye." Sansheng came forward and said, "How could we dare extinguish the Venerable's treasury of the true dharma eye?" Linji said, "Hereafter, if someone asks you, what will you say to them?" Sansheng gave a shout. Linji said, "Who would have known that my treasury of the true dharma eye would be extinguished by this blind donkey!" The verse says:
