陸亘大夫問南泉：「肇法師也甚奇怪，解道天地與我同根，萬物與我一體。」泉指庭前華召大夫云：「時人見此一株華，如夢相似。」頌云：

Grand Master Lu Gen asked Nanquan, 'Dharma Master Sengzhao was truly extraordinary, able to say: "Heaven and earth share the same root with me; the myriad things are of one substance with me."' Nanquan pointed to a flower in front of the courtyard, summoned the Grand Master, and said, 'When people of the world see this single flower, it is just like a dream.' A verse says:
