殃崛摩羅尊者，於一長者家持鉢，適值其家婦人產難，長者遂白尊者曰：「尊者是佛弟子，如何救得我家產難？」尊者云：「我乍入道，未能相救，當去問佛。」尊者往見佛具陳斯事，佛言：「汝但去說：『我自從賢聖法來，未曾殺生。』」尊者依佛所說往告長者，婦人聞之，當時分免。頌云：

When Venerable Aṅgulimāla was carrying his bowl at an elder's house, it happened that a woman of that family was suffering a difficult labor. The elder then addressed the Venerable, saying, 'The Venerable is a disciple of the Buddha; how can you save our family from this difficult labor?' The Venerable said, 'I have only newly entered the Way and cannot save her; I must go and ask the Buddha.' The Venerable went to see the Buddha and reported the matter fully. The Buddha said, 'Just go and say: "Ever since I entered into the Noble Dharma, I have never taken life."' The Venerable went and told the elder according to what the Buddha had said. Hearing this, the woman was delivered immediately. A verse says:
