蕭蕭灑灑，有取有捨，䖃䖃苴苴，無真無假。客來須看，賊來須打，一條竹篦，天上天下，背觸當鋒，任人酬價。咄哉村僧，少說大話，龜年收取挂高堂，從他讚歎從他罵。

Untrammeled and carefree, accepting and rejecting; / Careless and ragged, neither real nor false. / When guests arrive, they must be received; when thieves arrive, they must be beaten. / A single bamboo comb, above heaven and below heaven; / Striking head-on whether facing or clashing, letting anyone offer a price. / Bah, you rustic monk, talk less grandly! / Guinian, take it and hang it in the high hall; / Let them praise him or let them revile him as they will.
