臨濟燒黃檗禪版，香嚴哭溈山拄杖，雲門村叟效顰，也作這般伎倆。作麼生是這般伎倆？（咄）傳來鐵鉢盛猫飯，磨衲袈裟入墨盆，祖翁活計都壞了，不知將底付兒孫。

Linji burned Huangbo's Chan board, / Xiangyan wept over Guishan's staff; / The old rustic of Yunmen imitates them, / Also pulling off this sort of trick. / What is this sort of trick? (Bah!) / The iron bowl handed down holds food for cats; / The patched kasaya is dipped into an ink basin. / The ancestral estate is utterly ruined; / I wonder what he will hand down to his descendants?
