古人提持此事，或就理，或就事，或據時節，或向上提持，俱無定準，教中所謂「佛以一音演說法，眾生隨類各得解」是也。

When the ancients brought forth and upheld this matter, whether approaching it through principle or approaching it through phenomena, whether relying on the occasion or bringing it forth toward the transcendental, none had a fixed standard. It is just as the scriptural teachings say: "The Buddha expounds the Dharma with a single voice, and sentient beings each attain understanding according to their kind."
