2.29

上堂：「佛真法身猶若虛空。」以拂子擊禪床一下云：「應物現形如水中月。」復舉起云：「釋迦老子來也。還見麼？若道不見，有眼如盲；若道見，且道：在拂子內，拂子外，拂子中間？直饒爾道：『不在內，不在外，不在中間。』恁麼見得分明，徑山門下正好喫棒。」擊禪床下座。

Ascending the high seat: "'The Buddha's true dharmakāya is like empty space.'" He struck the meditation couch once with his fly-whisk and said, "'Responding to things, it manifests forms like the moon in water.'" He again raised [the fly-whisk] and said, "Old Śākya has arrived! Do you see him? If you say you do not see him, having eyes is like being blind; if you say you see him, tell me: is he inside the fly-whisk, outside the fly-whisk, or in between the fly-whisk? Even if you say, 'He is not inside, not outside, and not in between,' and you see it so clearly like this, under Jingshan's gate it is just right for you to take a beating." Striking the meditation couch, he stepped down from the seat.
