25.19

邴比蒙誨答，備悉深旨，邴自有驗者三：一、事無逆順，隨緣即應，不留胸中。二、宿習濃厚，不加排遣，自爾輕微。三、古人公案舊所茫然，時復瞥地，此非自昧者。前書大法未明之語，蓋恐得少為足，當擴而充之，豈別求勝解耶？淨除現流，理則不無，敢不銘佩。

Bing has recently received your instructive reply, fully understanding the deep intent. Bing has three verifications of his own: First, whether matters are adverse or agreeable, I respond according to conditions without retaining them in my chest. Second, deeply rooted past habits are not intentionally dispelled, yet naturally become slight. Third, the ancients' gong'ans, which were formerly bewildering, are now frequently glimpsed with clarity; this is not self-deception. The words in my previous letter about the Great Dharma not yet being clear were merely out of fear of taking little as sufficient, wishing to expand and fulfill it; how could I be seeking superior understanding elsewhere? The purification of the present flow is not absent in principle; I dare not fail to engrave it upon my heart.
