3.15

新鞔法鼓歲旦上堂：「新歲擊新鼓，普施新法雨，萬物盡從新，一一就規矩。普賢大士欣歡，乘時打開門戶，放出白象王，遍地無尋處。」拈起拄杖云：「唯有這箇不屬故新，等閑開口，吞却法身。」擲下云：「是甚麼？千年桃核裏，元是舊時仁。」

Ascending the high seat on New Year's Day upon newly stretching the Dharma drum: "In the new year, strike the new drum, / Universally bestowing the new Dharma rain. / The ten thousand things all follow the new, / Each and every one conforming to rule. / Samantabhadra, the Great Being, rejoices with delight, / Seizing the moment to fling open the doors, / Releasing the white elephant king— / Nowhere in all the land can it be found!" Holding up his staff, he said: "Only this does not belong to old or new; casually opening its mouth, it swallows the Dharma body." Throwing it down, he said: "What is it? Inside the thousand-year peach pit, it is originally the old kernel."
