上堂，舉：「僧問睦州：『如何是展演之言？』州云：『量才補職。』『如何是不展演之言？』州云：『伏惟尚饗。』」師云：「睦州古佛善應來機，雖然如是，只得八成。或有人問徑山：『如何是展演之言？』即向他道：『問十答百，有甚麼難。如何是不展演之言？』」喝一喝云：「且莫屎窖沸。」

Ascending the hall, [the Master] cited: "A monk asked Muzhou, 'What are unfolding words?' Muzhou said, 'Measuring talent to assign office.' 'What are non-unfolding words?' Muzhou said, 'Respectfully we offer this sacrifice.'" The Master said, "The ancient buddha Muzhou was skilled at responding to incoming potential; nevertheless, he only achieved eighty percent. If someone were to ask Jingshan, 'What are unfolding words?' I would say to him, 'To be asked ten and answer a hundred—what is difficult about that?' 'What are non-unfolding words?'" Giving a shout, he said, "Do not let the privy boil over!"
