5.16

上堂，舉：「修山主云：『是柱不見柱，非柱不見柱，是非已去了，是非裏薦取。』」師召大眾云：「是非既去了，各各照顧，且道：照顧箇甚麼？」良久云：「莫教撞著露柱。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "Master of Xiu Mountain said: 'Being a pillar, one does not see the pillar; not being a pillar, one does not see the pillar. Affirmation and denial have already been dismissed; grasp it right within affirmation and denial.'" The Master called out to the assembly, saying: "Since affirmation and denial have already been dismissed, each of you take care! Now tell me: what should you take care of?" After a long pause, he said: "Do not let yourself crash into the exposed pillar."
