8.32

示眾：「行不到處說不難，說不到處行不難，行說難到不難到，拈却門前大案山。所以道：『靈鋒寶劍，常露現前，亦能殺人，亦能活人。』進前則喪身失命，退後則瓦解氷銷，不進不退，上無衝天之計，下無入地之謀。正當恁麼時，作麼生是衲僧轉身一路？還委悉麼？好手手中呈好手，紅心心裏中紅心。」

Instructing the assembly: "Where action cannot reach, speaking is not difficult; where speaking cannot reach, action is not difficult. When action and speech are both hard to reach and not hard to reach, cast away the great table mountain before the gate. Therefore it is said: 'The precious sword of keen edge is constantly revealed before you; it can kill people and it can also bring people to life.' Stepping forward, you lose your body and life; stepping backward, you dissolve like tiles and ice. Neither advancing nor retreating, above there is no scheme to soar into the heavens, and below there is no plan to enter the earth. Just at such a time, what is a patch-robed monk's single road of turning around? Do you understand? An expert hand shows an expert hand among experts; the bullseye hits the bullseye right in the center."
