師纔見僧入，便云：「諸佛菩薩，畜生驢馬，庭前柏樹子，麻三斤，乾屎橛，爾是一枚無狀賊漢。」僧云：「久知和尚有此機要。」師云：「我已無端入荒草，是爾屎臭氣也不知。」僧拂袖便出，師云：「苦哉佛陀耶。」

As soon as the Master saw a monk enter, he said, "The buddhas and bodhisattvas, beasts, donkeys, and horses, the cypress tree in the courtyard, three pounds of hemp, a dry shit-stick—you are an unruly thief!" The monk said, "I have long known the Venerable possesses this pivotal technique." The Master said, "I have already entered the overgrown grass for no reason, and you do not even notice the stench of shit." The monk flicked his sleeves and went out. The Master said, "Alas, O Buddha!"
