This rustic monk has immense ignorance: / Lacking gentleness, full of narrowness, / Loving to scold others with a quick tongue. / Benefiting from the Buddha's shade, yet breaking the Buddha's precepts; / Unenergetic, ever indolent; / Slandering prajñā, an offense filling the heavens; / Entering hell, never regretting it. / Those who hear him detest him; those who see him find him strange; / Stirring up the monastic community, especially insufferable. / Consuming the offerings of the faithful in vain for thirty years, / Emerging in another life to repay old debts. / In all this, there is only one strong point: / He can say that the ocean around Jiyu has no cover.
