Ascending the hall, [the Master] cited: "Whenever a monk came to study, Luzu would sit facing the wall. One day Nanquan arrived, and Luzu also sat facing the wall. Nanquan then slapped him once on the back. Luzu said, 'Who is it?' Nanquan said, 'Puyuan.' Luzu said, 'What are you doing?' Nanquan said, 'Nothing out of the ordinary.'" The Master said, "Casting a hook across the four seas is only to catch ferocious dragons; the mystery beyond norms is to search for a kindred spirit. Although old man Nanquan was good at discerning the turning points of potential and well understood good and ill omens, nevertheless he still did not know Luzu's resting place. Now, is there anyone who knows the resting place? Take care not to divine it in a ghost's cave!"
