The Buddha is the mirror of the ordinary person, and the ordinary person is the mirror of the Buddha. When the ordinary person is deluded, the defiled reflections of birth and death are completely manifested in the Buddha's mirror. When one suddenly awakens, the truly pure, wonderful, bright, unarising, and unceasing image of the Buddha is manifested in the ordinary person's mirror. However, the Buddha fundamentally has no arising or ceasing, nor delusion or awakening, nor any mirror, nor any reflection that can be manifested; it is simply because ordinary people have various conditions that [the Buddha] illuminates in accordance with ordinary people. Now, if you wish to eliminate the ordinary person's sickness and be no different from the buddhas and ancestors, please smash the mirror, and I will write a footnote for you.
