慈明、瑯瑯、大愚等數人辭汾陽，相讓不肯為參頭，汾陽云：「此行不可以戒臘推，聽吾一頌：『天無頭，吉州城畔展戈矛。將軍疋馬林下過，圓州城裏鬧啾啾。』」慈明出班云：「楚圓何人敢當此記莂？」遂領眾拜辭。

Ciming, Langya, Dayu, and several others took their leave of Fenyang, deferring to one another, unwilling to be the leader of the traveling monks. Fenyang said, "This journey cannot be settled by monastic seniority. Listen to my verse: / 'The sky has no head, / Beside the walls of Jizhou spears and halberds are deployed. / The general on his lone horse passes beneath the trees; / Inside the walls of Yuanzhou, there is loud clamor.'" / Ciming stepped out from the assembly and said, "Who is Chuyuan to dare accept this prophecy of enlightenment?" He then led the assembly in bowing and taking leave.
