開先暹和尚，為歸宗南禪師作禪床銘曰：「明珠產蚌，涼兔懷胎，觀此禪床，證道之媒。」南次為歸宗作銘曰：「放下便穩。」開先深肯之。

Master Kaixian Xian composed an inscription for Chan Master Guizong Nan's meditation seat, which read: "A bright pearl is produced in an oyster; / The cool hare conceives in the womb. / Contemplate this meditation seat: / It is the vehicle for realizing the Way." Nan in turn composed an inscription for Guizong, which read: "Put it down, and all is at ease." Kaixian deeply approved of it.
