有力量大丈夫，出游人間，自詩書由富貴，致君澤民不被利名關鎖。二六時中一動一靜，一條脊梁過，如生鐵鑄就，一切世間逆順境界搖撼不動。何故如此？蓋為最初發一念時，撞入母胎中便具正因正見，煉磨純熟；纔出頭來一撥便轉，本地風光頓爾現前不假他求。及至出生入死超然卓絕，談笑說偈恰如平日，終無別道理，正所謂「生如著衫，死同脫袴。」信齋今日之設，豈虛語也歟？且如信之一字如何提掇？如何受用？便乃如是靈驗。莫是信是道源功德母，長養一切諸善根能爾耶？且莫錯會，要見信齋直截處，切忌向紙上卜度。

A great man of power roams forth in the human world; naturally possessing literary refinement and emerging from wealth and nobility, he aids his sovereign and benefits the people, not locked down by the checkpoints of profit and fame. Throughout the twelve two-hour periods, in every movement and every stillness, a single backbone runs through him, as if cast from pig iron, immovable and unshakeable in all the world's adverse and favourable conditions. Why is it like this? It is because when he first produced a single thought and crashed into his mother's womb, he was already equipped with correct causes and correct views, tempered and refined until mature; the moment he stuck his head out, with a single flick he turned, and the scenery of his fundamental ground suddenly appeared before him without relying on external seeking. When it came to passing through birth and entering death, he was transcendent and preeminent, chatting and laughing while uttering his verse just as on ordinary days, with ultimately no other principle, truly as it is said: "Birth is like putting on a coat; death is the same as taking off trousers." Today's arrangement by Xinzhai—how could it be an empty saying? Moreover, how should the single word "faith" (xin) be taken up? How should it be put to use, so that it becomes miraculous and efficacious like this? Could it be that faith is the source of the Way and the mother of merit, able to nourish all good roots, that it can be so? Do not misunderstand! If you want to see Xinzhai's direct place, by all means avoid speculating upon paper.
