正旦上堂，拈主丈：「不得道著新年頭佛法，禪和家面噤噤地，那裡肯隨時逐節，顯孝從來柳下惠。」卓主丈：「伏惟狸奴白牯，履茲而去，各各水草常甘，無致嘴長毛瘦。」

Ascending the hall on New Year's Day, he took up his staff: "One must not speak of New Year's Buddhadharma; the Chan monks keep their faces stone-silent, how could they be willing to follow the times and seasons? Xianxiao has always been Liu Xiahui." He planted his staff: "May the cats and white oxen, treading upon this, each find the water and grass ever sweet, without getting long snouts and thin hair."
