上堂，拈主丈：「若恁麼，諸方決定不肯；不恁麼，各自檢責看。恁麼不恁麼，犢鼻裩滌酒器底。報恩有箇方便，諸人還甘也無？」良久，靠主丈。

Ascending the hall, he picked up his staff: "If it is thus, the various quarters will definitely not consent; if it is not thus, each should examine and reprove oneself. Being thus or not being thus: loincloths washing wine vessels. Bao'en has an expedient means; do you accept it?" After a long pause, he leaned his staff [against the seat].
