妙源　甞拜觀師十會語，如南屏雙徑提唱甚多，惜乎未盡鋟梓。曩曾侍師於凌霄，因有此請，不允。今叢林衲子咸欲流傳，謹錄成後集，倘覽者言外知歸，則我師之語何剩焉。咸淳五年歲在己巳，佛成道日，新差住持福州鼓山嗣法小師，妙源拜書。

Miaoyuan once reverently perused our master's sermons from ten assemblies, such as Nanping and Shuangjing, where the instructions and expositions were exceedingly numerous; what a pity that not all were carved onto printing blocks! Formerly, I attended the master at Lingxiao, and on that occasion made this request, but he did not consent. Now the patch-robed monks of the monasteries all wish to circulate them, so I have respectfully compiled them into a Latter Collection. If those who peruse it understand what lies beyond the words and know where to return, then how could my master's words be superfluous? In the fifth year of Xianchun, the cyclical year jisi, on the Day of the Buddha's Attainment of the Way, Miaoyuan, junior disciple and Dharma-heir, newly appointed abbot of Gushan in Fuzhou, reverently writes.
