背得四大部經，到頭不識如是，虛己扣南屏，跨門先領旨，火聚刀山當等閑，去來不在秋風裡。

He memorized the four great sections of scriptures,
yet in the end did not recognize 'thus'.
Humbling himself, he knocked at Nanping;
stepping over the threshold, he took up the meaning beforehand.
A mass of fire and a mountain of swords were taken as trifling matters;
his going and coming were not in the autumn wind.
