大士生日上堂：「一自嵩頭陀道破之後，不出來，是好手，無端貧時思舊債，再揚家醜。要見大士麼？」卓主丈：「空手把鉏頭，步行騎水牛。」

Ascending the hall on the birthday of the Mahāsattva: "Ever since Dhūta Song spoke of it thoroughly, not coming forth would have been the work of an adept; but without reason, when impoverished, one thinks of old debts and again broadcasts the family's disgrace. Do you wish to see the Mahāsattva?" Striking his staff, he said, "Empty-handed, holding a hoe; walking on foot, riding a water buffalo."
