師乃云：「五峯孤峭，萬壑雲寒，人人懷報佛祖之恩，箇箇具辨龍蛇之眼，全賓全主、全放全收，向威音那畔別立生涯，於空劫已前突出自己，目機銖兩，舉一明三，不涉化儀，如何相見？」卓主丈：「白鳥望中沒，青山斷處幽。」

The Master then said: "The Five Peaks are solitary and precipitous; the myriad ravines are cold with clouds. Everyone cherishes the wish to repay the kindness of Buddhas and patriarchs; each possesses the eye that discerns dragons from snakes. Complete guest and complete host, complete release and complete capture—on that other side of King of Awesome Voice, they establish another livelihood; before the empty kalpa, they thrust forth their own selves. Discerning the minute workings in an instant, grasping the three upon hearing the one—not involving the rites of conversion, how do they meet?" Striking his staff, he said: "White birds vanish in the distance; where the green mountains end, it is secluded."
