上堂：「山高水深，雲閑風靜，佛法至妙，妙在中和。中和則且置，賓主歷然，又作麼生？」卓主丈：「拾薪汲㵎煎茶外，倚杖閑看雲去留。」

Ascending the hall: "The mountains are high and the waters deep; the clouds are idle and the wind is calm. The Buddha Dharma is most wondrous, and its wonder lies in harmonious balance. Leaving harmonious balance aside for the moment, when guest and host are distinct, what about that?" Striking his staff, he said: "Apart from gathering firewood, drawing from the valley stream, and boiling tea, / leaning on the staff, I casually watch the clouds come and go."
