舉：「長慶稜和尚問僧：『甚處來？』僧云：『鼓山。』云：『鼓山有不跨石門底句，有人借問汝，作麼生道？』云：『昨夜宿報慈。』慶云：『若劈脊便棒，汝又作麼生？』僧云：『和尚若行此棒，不虛受人天供養。』慶云：『幾乎放過。』」

He cited: "Upādhyāya Changqing Leng asked a monk: 'Where do you come from?' The monk said: 'Gushan.' [Changqing] said: 'Gushan has the phrase: "Not striding across the stone gate." If someone were to ask you about it, what would you say?' [The monk] said: 'Last night I lodged at Baoci.' Changqing said: 'If I struck you across the back with a staff, what would you do then?' The monk said: 'If the upādhyāya exercises this staff, he does not in vain accept the offerings of gods and humans.' Changqing said: 'I almost let you off.'"
