舉：「德山因僧相看，乃近前作相撲勢，山云：『與麼無禮，合喫山僧手中棒。』僧拂袖便行，山云：『饒汝如是，也只得一半。』僧轉身便喝，山打云：『須是我打爾始得。』僧云：『諸方有明眼人在。』山云：『天然有眼。』僧擘開眼云：『猫。』便出，山云：『黃河三千年一度清。』」

He cited: "A monk came to meet Deshan and stepped forward in a wrestling posture. Deshan said: 'Being so insolent, you deserve a strike from this mountain monk's staff.' The monk flicked his sleeves and left. Deshan said: 'Even granting you this, you only have half of it.' The monk turned around and gave a shout. Deshan struck him, saying: 'Only if I strike you can it be right.' The monk said: 'In all directions there are people with clear eyes.' Deshan said: 'Naturally there are eyes.' The monk pulled his eyes wide open and said: 'Meow!' and then walked out. Deshan said: 'The Yellow River clears once every three thousand years.'"
