舉：「道場訥和尚因僧問：『如何得見聞性不隨緣？』云：『汝聽看。』僧作禮，場云：『聾人也唱胡家曲，好惡高低自不知。』僧云：『聞性宛然也。』場云：『石從空裏立，火向水中焚。』」

He cited: "Because a monk asked, 'How can one realize that the nature of hearing does not follow conditions?', Upādhyāya Daochang Ne said: 'Listen and see.' The monk bowed. [Dao]chang said: 'A deaf person also sings the songs of foreign lands, unaware of good or bad, high or low.' The monk said: 'The nature of hearing is completely clear.' [Dao]chang said: 'Rocks stand upright in empty space; fire burns inside water.'"
