舉：「洞山問僧：『甚處去來？』僧云：『遊山來。』山云：『還到頂麼？』僧云：『到。』山云：『頂上有人否？』僧云：『無人。』山云：『爾不到頂。』云：『若不到，爭知無人。』山云：『闍梨何不且住？』僧云：『某甲住則不辭，西天有人不肯在。』」

He cited: "Dongshan asked a monk: 'Where have you come from?' The monk said: 'I have returned from wandering the mountains.' Dongshan said: 'Did you reach the summit?' The monk said: 'I reached it.' Dongshan said: 'Was there anyone on the summit?' The monk said: 'There was no one.' Dongshan said: 'You did not reach the summit.' [The monk] said: 'If I did not reach it, how could I know there was no one?' Dongshan said: 'Ācārya, why do you not stay a while?' The monk said: 'As for me, I would not decline to stay, but someone in the Western Heaven would not permit it.'"
