6.78

舉：「真點胸在歸宗南和尚會中為首座，時歸宗問云：『承首座常將女子出定話為人是否？』真云：『無。』宗云：『奢而不儉，儉而不奢，為甚道無？』真云：『若是本分衲僧，也少他鹽醬不得。』宗喚侍者：『報典座，來日只煮白粥。』」

He cited: "Zhen Dianxiong served as head monk in the assembly of Upādhyāya Nan of Guizong. At that time, Guizong asked, 'I hear that the head monk often uses the story of the woman coming out of samādhi for people; is that so?' Zhen said, 'No.' Guizong said, 'Extravagant yet not frugal, frugal yet not extravagant; why do you say no?' Zhen said, 'If it is a true patch-robed monk, he cannot lack his salt and sauce.' Guizong called his attendant: 'Tell the head cook that tomorrow he should only boil plain congee.'"
