6.84

舉：「鶴林素禪師因僧敲門，林問：『是甚麼人？』云：『是僧。』林云：『非但是僧，佛來亦不著。』僧云：『佛來為甚麼不著？』林云：『無汝止泊處。』」

He cited: "Chan Master Su of Helin, because a monk knocked on the gate, Lin asked, 'Who is it?' He said, 'It is a monk.' Lin said, 'Not only a monk—even if the Buddha came, he would not be admitted.' The monk said, 'Why would the Buddha not be admitted if he came?' Lin said, 'There is no place for you to lodge.'"
