舉：「昔有老宿，問一座主：『疏鈔解義廣略如何？』主云：『鈔解疏，疏解經。』宿云：『經解甚麼？』主無對。」

He cited: "In the past, an elder master asked a lecturer monk, 'How do commentaries and subcommentaries explain the meaning in broad and concise terms?' The lecturer said, 'Subcommentaries explain commentaries; commentaries explain sūtras.' The elder said, 'What do sūtras explain?' The lecturer had no reply."
