9.127

師乃云：「入夏以來，並無做工夫底時節，每日只知登千僧閣守被位，上大覺寮看飛雲，波波挈挈云過了九旬。雖然如是，直饒七佛出來，也覓他起處不得。時臨自恣，繩頭子越自把得緊。何故？蓋他是明眼衲僧，終不肯小小結果看。」

The Master then said: "Since entering the summer, there has been no time at all for doing practice. Every day, one only knows how to climb the Thousand Monks Pavilion to watch over the bedding spots, or go up to the Great Awakening Hut to watch the flying clouds, toiling and bustling through the ninety days. Although it is like this, even if the Seven Buddhas were to appear, they could not find where he arises. Now that the time of pravāraṇā has arrived, the rope-end is held all the more tightly. Why? Because he is a clear-eyed patch-robed monk who will never agree to look for petty results."
