Offering incense on the third memorial anniversary of Bodhidharma: "Traces among the waters and clouds of a hundred thousand miles; an ancient man of Western India seven hundred years ago. His eyes were jet-black, his face dark and wrinkled. Transmitting the robe and conferring the Dharma stirred up dust and dirt. Nowadays, red and purple disorder the pure vermilion, bursting forth in profusion—how could it be limited to the spring of the five petals and one flower of Shaolin? Now arriving at this distant memorial, offering this water-weed of the creek, for ten thousand ages and a thousand autumns it burdens sons and grandsons."
