Returning from ascending the seat at the governor's office, he ascended the hall. A monk asked, "Expounding the Dharma in the city of Vaiśālī, discussing the abstruse under the twin śāla trees—what is the Immovable Honoured One?" The master said, "Running east and running west." The monk said, "Since he is the Immovable Honoured One, why does he run east and run west?" The master said, "Before an idiot, one must not tell of dreams." The monk said, "Could it be that moving is not-moving, and not-moving is moving?" The master said, "The place of jewels is close at hand; take another step forward." The monk said, "If suddenly one banishes moving and not-moving all at once into the land of the unproduced, and then asks: what is the Immovable Honoured One?" The master said, "Running east and running west." The monk said, "The upādhyāya has also only saved half." The master said, "Those with the root of faith are few."
