When the posthumous letter of the Venerable Shixi of Jingshan arrived, the master ascended the hall: "Before the Chicken Foot Peak, at the Huangmei ferry, reaching Lengquan with obstacles at every turn—if one says Lingxiao was not the authentic transmission, ultimately into whose hands did the robe and Dharma fall? The jackal howls, the lion roars; empty space did a somersault last night."
