He cited: "Because a monk led a boy and arrived, saying, 'This boy is always fond of asking about the Buddhadharma; please examine him, Upādhyāya,' Longce Fu ordered tea to be brought and served. Having drunk it, he passed the cup to the boy. As the boy intended to take it, Longce withdrew his hand and said, 'Can you say something yet?' The boy said, 'Ask away.' Unhurriedly, the monk asked, 'What is this boy's understanding?' Longce said, 'He is merely a precept-holding monk of one or two lifetimes.'"
