He cited: "In the past, a monk went to Cuiyan to pay his respects. It happened that [Cuiyan] was not there, so he went to see the administrator. The administrator said, 'Have you had an audience with the upādhyāya yet?' He said, 'Not yet.' The administrator then pointed to a dog and said, 'If the Venerable One wants to see the upādhyāya, simply bow to this dog.' The monk was speechless."
