Ascending the hall: "Sentient beings in the Final Age hope to attain the Way, yet without letting themselves seek awakening, they only increase much learning, augmenting self-views. With hearts indignant and mouths clamouring, they assess contemporaries and disparage past virtues. Desiring to get a thatched hut over their heads with the urgency of fire and water, they intend to come forth to proclaim and manifest their usual profound secrets to guide posterity. Little do they know that there are clear-eyed ones present. Xutang is senile and old, lacking the strength to debate clearly with them; I merely say 'good' like Sima. Why is that? Though momentum may cause things to rise from the earth, no matter how high they go, what can they do against heaven?"
