9.116

The Master then said: "This summer we have gathered patch-robed monks from the four quarters, relying on the Bodhisattva Vehicle and cultivating the practice of quiescent extinction. For ninety days, diligent and painstaking, no one dared to make reckless departures. One day, suddenly seeing an iron boat floating on the water, you still cannot call it strange forces or chaotic spirits; you must personally experience and settle it. If you can personally experience and settle it, you will not fail the period established by the ancient sages and will reap the success at the very end. If perchance you have not done so—Bah! I will never make explanations and commentaries for people."
