The next day, ascending the hall: "Baizhang's pure regulations are a great model for a thousand ages: when hidden, empty space leaves no trace; when applied, the disciplinary orders are stern and austere. Although Mount Jing's spirit touches the clouds, what can be done about not yet having the communal hall facilities? How then should this summer's sacred retreat be explained?" He struck with the staff and said: "Coming down from the seat, all make prostrations together, without going around to the various huts to pay formal respects."
