Informal gathering for concluding the summer retreat: "The direct descendant of the fifty-third generation of the Great Awakened World-Honoured One, the bhikṣu so-and-so, currently residing at Xingsheng Wanshou Chan Monastery on Jingshan, receiving the Buddha's bequeathed shelter and obeying the Buddha's prescribed Dharma, on the fifteenth day of the fourth month, without needing to distribute tallies or sit on grass, dwelt in retreat together with the Chan currents from the four seas. During the ninety days, amid the four postures, without for an instant misusing body and mind, [we] realized this arhat fruit's taintless Dharma-body, entering life and entering death, attaining great function. What doubt could there still be? If suddenly a fellow came forward and said, 'Old upādhyāya, what proof do you have after all?' this mountain monk would tell him to come forward, and in a low voice say to him, 'As long as you hold firmly, that is fine.'"
