上堂云。五月半農忙亂。插田心是秋成飯。却道禾熟不臨場。祇麼任從風雨爛。禪和子。一身了一身兩眼對兩眼。箇中絲髮初無間。老狐涎盡復何疑。再坐盤中弓落盞。

Ascending the hall, he said: "Midway through the fifth month, farming is busy and hurried; / the mind that transplants the field is the rice of autumn harvest. / Yet they say when the grain ripens, they do not go to the threshing floor, / just letting it rot away in the wind and rain. / Chan fellows! / One body finished, another body; two eyes facing two eyes. / Therein, not a thread of hair intervenes from the start. / The old fox's saliva is exhausted, what doubt is left? / Sitting again at the table, the bow drops into the cup."
